Created an international consortium of Retail. FMCG clients to enable the inception of IoT through globally accepted standards. Led creation of next generation retail-technology standards for clients. Served standards bodies (GS1, GS1US. – part UCC or Uniform Code Council) created for RFID/IoT in Retail and FMCG industry.

The scope included a majority of public services including but not restricted to Garbage, Waste Removal, Street Inspection, Auto, Building, Street Lights etc.

Smart City in the U.S.
Street Infrastructure Upgrade

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The client was the City of Boston, which was looking at street infrastructure upgrade to IoT technology. This included smart meters, parking sensors and other IoT technology. We advised the Mayor and his staff as part of the Complete Streets Committee, which was the first step towards a broader Smart Cities initiative.

US State DOT and Automobile Corporations
IOT, Vehicle Efficiency, and VMT

Advised leading automobile manufacturers and US DOT on pioneering research projects on electric batteries, smart cars, autonomy, and traffic. The projects focused on using IoT technology to improve both vehicle and transportation system efficiency.

• Using IoT in hybrid vehicles.
• Use of look ahead data to enhance user comfort.

CONTRIBUTION OF IOTASK PARTNERS OR COMPANY
Developed model for vehicle miles travelled (VMT) for replacement of gas tax using IoT technology. Developed key technology algorithms for activity based recognition using mobile phones and algorithmic identification of walking, cycling or vehicular traffic.
RESULTS
State DoT executed a pilot on VMT based on the recommendations. The US DoT is now considering future actions based on the results and recommendations.
Universal Identification (UID) System for the Indian Government
SECTOR:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Developed UID strategy and core technical standards for national government (India), where nearly one billion ID’s were rolled out. The Unique identification project (also referred to as Aadhar) was initially conceived by the Planning Commission as an initiative that would provide identification for each resident across the country and would be used primarily as the basis for efficient delivery of welfare services. It also acts as a tool for effective monitoring of various programs and schemes of the Government.
KEY-POINTS/ISSUE:
• Developed UID numbering scheme for issuing, collecting and managing national identification data.
• Created key technical algorithms for error correction.
• Strategic advisor on national deployment of UID.
CONTRIBUTION OF IOTASK PARTNER OR COMPANY
Created key blueprint specifications for the final UID system. Served as a key strategic advisor to the Government of India on the project.
RESULTS
UID has been rolled out to nearly 1 Billion users and user ID’s today.
Mega Scale Smart Cities/IoT Visioning for Middle Eastern Sovereign

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Worked with client to deliver a vision and roadmap for mega scale Middle Eastern smart cities initiative. Worked with regional C-level authorities. Provided IoT training to client staff & preliminary IoT shovel-ready use cases for short to medium term policy implementations.

• Providing senior policy makers and implementers with a cohesive vision.
• Resolve issues in the areas of road transportation, infrastructure and connectivity.
• Identifying a clear roadmap of sub-projects that connect together.
